Intro to Japanese Business Culture

When it comes to Japan business culture, and business travel to Japan, things like culture, etiquette and manners are very important.

It’s generally a good idea to “dress to impress.” That is, be even more formal in Japan than you are in your own country.

Concepts such as “rank”, as in high-status and low-status, are still very strong in Japan.

It’s important that those in Japan on business travel know this.

Even the language is designed that way. For example, the endings on different words are different depending on who you are talking to.

Are you talking to a Japanese friend?

Are you talking to a superior in a Japanese company?

Are you talking to a child?

The Japanese words you use may well be very different.

This is an important cultural tidbit for your Japanese business travel knowledge. Remember it and profit.
